However, this morning we celebrated Christmas early in Chicago because we're driving to family in Texas for the real deal. As we were all sitting in the living room opening gifts and enjoying Santa's deliveries, I looked down at Sabine smiling in my arms and there it was...her first tooth peaking through. She turned 5 months old this week and already has a tooth peaking through. Naida was 8 months old before we hit this milestone so it was completely off my radar for Beaner.
Now all day I've been thinking of 'what's next' and how soon will it be here. Her first half year of life seems to have flown like the speed of light. I seemed to remember phases of Naida's babyhood taking longer and I was almost ready to move on to the next step when the time came. However the thought of starting Sabine in solid foods next month takes my breath away.
All I can say is that I hope I don't see all of these firsts for her as 'last firsts'...I mean, come on, I didn't really sign anyhwere :)
Just after the tooth discovery
Nick turned 30 this week and Sabine wqas wondering why she didn't get any ice cream cake.
Naida and I wrote a letter to Santa last night thanking him for coming to Illinois early this year. Rocksy soon decided that gingerbread cookies and carrots sounded delightful and destroyed the display. We fixed it and Santa enjoyed the snacks. However, his reindeer were awful messy eaters and left chewed up carrots all over the front sidewalk!
Naida was pretty jazzed about the train table and kitchen that Santa brought!
