Snowbliteration 2010

So Nick traveled to Dallas this week on business. This is fine and life is completely manageable with the two kids if I'm alone. However, throw in a foot of snow and the juggling act begins. I hate snow. I need to go sled or build a snow man this weekend or something to learn to enjoy it because right now it is just a pain in my ass.

Yesterday it snowed all day so I shoveled 4 times to keep up with it. Great workout, but hard to manage when you have two small children inside getting in to who knows what in a matter of seconds. On Tuesday morning, I left them happy and set up in the living room and ran out to start the car and brush off snow and shovel the sidewalk at least. I came in to Naida laying on top of Sabine with a shredded tissue in her hand. Sabine was screaming. Naida said Sabine had boogers and she was helping get them. Poor Sabine's nose was bright red! Funny yes, but makes me a little nervous to leave them alone. So I decided to pack them up and move them to the car as it warmed up and I finished the shoveling.

So this morning, again I tried to shovel a little without the kids having to sit in a freezing cold car! I told Naida to knock on the front window if she needed me. This kid knocked 4 times in 10 minutes and each time I'd stop shoveling and run to the door thinking Sabine had slid downstairs or had her tongue in a light socket, but each time Naida was sitting next to a quiet Sabine and she would say 'I just wanted to tell you we're just fine Mommy'. Okay, this was funny!

We sure miss Daddy!

Can you see the walk that leads from the front porch? I shoveled last at 9pm the evening before and than all this fell overnight. However, you can see at the end of the driveway, the snow has been plowed. This is because we have FANTASTIC neighbors and Steve always comes to our rescue. He was up at 6am clearing his driveway and came over and plowed the end of ours and our sidewalk too!
I love how these bushes and big fir trees around here hold so much snow. It's like the have a purpose and are trying to show all of us humans how strong they are...I love it
