Cleaning Mama's Floors

I had to stay home with Sabine last week because she was having a puking dilemma for several evenings and then decided to be a joy during the day. I guess it was a virus or something she was working through - whatever it was, I felt like Mrs. Duggar with the amount of dirty loads of laundry she was creating for me.

Our house is 100% hardwood floors. I've been wondering for a while now how this is going to impact Sabine's eagerness to crawl or walk. If I were her, I think I'd just sit for as long as possible once I realized anyone would bring anything to me. I also decided that I'm not really going to encourage her mobility as I did with Naida. She'll pick it up eventually, so who am I to get in the way with human nature...and the sooner she moves, the sooner we have to baby proof all over again and put up those beyond annoying gates on the stairs.

So, on Friday, I laid her on the blanket in the picture below and went to the kitchen to do something and came out and found her ... there, by the closet. Did she roll or scoot or jump? I have no idea, I just know she was far away from where I had left her and I am now surrendering to the fact that I can no longer leave her on the bed or in the upstairs hallway, even for a second, or I'm sure, on my watch, she'll be rolling head first down the stairs or off the bed onto, yes, hardwood floors.
Later that day she decided to show off and began scooting backwards all over the place. I thought at first that she was trying to help out and clean the floors for me, but then realized her mission was to get to her toy box.
After seeing this determination, I have to say that I did start a little encouraging to see if she'd pull up. Sure enough, after a few fumbles, she did it and is now trying it on about anything. The mobility has started...here we go...time to drop the crib and find those baby gates!!!

The pics below are just a bit of cuteness I had to share of the rest of our day together. It's amazing how much fun a baby can have with an empty diaper box!
