Tub Talk

I'm sitting here all decked out in gym clothes doing anything possible to avoid the gym. My motivation this week to run is in the dumps. So, to feel more constructive about my laziness, I thought I'd blog with some pictures I took of the girls while getting ready for bed tonight. Each night I give the girls their baths while Nick does the dishes. One of my favorite moments of every day is walking downstairs in the evening to a completely clean kitchen - especially since I can destroy it in a matter of minutes trying to cook the family dinner and as we get Sabine fed. After baths, the girls look so clean and sparkly so I thought I'd take a few pictures...especially since Sabine is about to graduate out of her baby bath and into something else, because tonight she tried to scale the wall of her mini-tub and would have landed face first in porcelain if I hadn't gently tossed the camera aside to catch her!

After dinner and before bath, we all usually migrate to the living room and end up on a blanket just playing around. It's funny to me that in this big house, all 5 of us end up in 3 sq ft of each other. In the pics below, Nick had just moved to take the picture which caused Rocksy the dog to jump up...if only someone else had been here to take our cuddly family pic for us!
Sabine usually just sits behind me in the bathroom while I get Naida clean and chews on an empty bottle of shampoo or reads a People magazine, but lately she's been dive bombing my feet and trying to eat the bottom of my shoe or slipper. Since this is beyond gross to me, she's now hanging out in the Johnny Jumper thing in the doorway until it's her turn and she doesn't seem to mind at all...however, all that jumping is going to make those skinny minny legs even smaller!
I remember when Naida was a baby and her eyes were as blue as the ocean. Everyone would tell us that 'a baby's eye color could change up to a year old...blah blah blah. Were they telling me this because they were jealous of my baby's beautiful eyes? I have to think so and at the same time, I was hoping that the color would stick and never change. Well, here we are at age 3 and they're still pretty blue! Not that there is anything wrong with brown or green or darker blue eyes, these just fit the little personality she was went well with her bleach blonde hair.
So here is our 8 month old skinny minny Sabine hanging in her tub. She just went to the doctor because she was sick last week and weighed in at a big 15 pounds. This kid is a small one with Larry Bird legs...but that's okay, we'll take her any way she comes! She has teeth coming in left and right, hence the fingers in the mouth at all times. It makes it so nice to pick her up and have her slap her hand across your face while its dripping with drool.
When Naida saw the dentist for the first time a few months ago, they sent her home withe some toothbrushes for her little sister. Sabine has really picked up the habit and I can say I'm pretty impressed with her nightly flossing and brushing routine already...all for 3 teeth...nice work kiddo.
Just before heading to bed, I had Nick take a few pictures of the girls and I...I feel like time is flying by and we don't take enough time to capture simple times in pictures with the girls so they'll be able to look back and remember what mom and pop looked like when they were growing up. However, I still have to work on getting camera shy Dad get in a picture or two!
So, now that I'm at the end of the blog, a glass of red wine has appeared in front of me. See you later this week gym, tonight it's just not going to happen!
