Sisters

When I was pregnant I constantly wondered what kind of big sister Naida would be. Friends always told me that once you have two kids, you quickly forget what it was like to have just one. I really had a hard time with this because I took it more to mean that I would loose parts of Naida. I was so wrong. Sabine has made every relationship in this house better. Naida is her same great self and Nick and I work as an even better well-oiled machine.

Naida is so gentle and loving towards Sabine. It amazes me how the baby can cry in the car and if Naida sings, Sabine relaxes (and I'm talking ABC singing). Naida realizes how much she can help and will actually sing the whole 25 minutes home from daycare if she knows its making Sabine feel more comfortable. She helps me whenever I need an extra hand (which I pretend to need more and more b/c she digs helping so much).

Naida moves Sabine's bathtub into the big bath each night for me and one night it slipped out of one hand and landed right on Sabine's head. Of course the little one starts screaming and Naida looked at me like she was just going to just die. For a second I thought she was afraid I'd be mad or something and when I just told her to come give me a hug, she absolutely lost it. It was a complete accident and everyone was just fine...Sabine more scared than hurt...it just made me want to smile at how much in that moment I could tell Naida loved her sister. So, here's to you big sister, you make me so proud every single day. I can't wait to see you two girls in the years to come as you grow up together. I love you, love Mom!

(oh, and if you're anything like Aunt Erica and I, there will be times in your lives where you may not like each other too much...I won't hold this against you, I'll just pray that you two find each other again and cherish the amazing relationship sisters can have...I am not a whole person without Aunt Erica and it took me several years to realize this. There's no one on earth as special as a sister, especially mine.)
